I joined the Kit & Clowder Skin and Hair Course in order to improve my skills with portraiture, with the hope of moving from lead pencil sketching to Copic illustrations.
I am amazed at how much I have learned through Alyce's tutelage in regard to Copis and my pencil sketching. She is a remarkable artist and a gorgeous person whom is always giving her best to her students. I believe that the personal one on one chats has helped a great deal, in that the criticism is very constructive (and kind) and precise, thus ensuring the student is getting the help they required. The written course is very clear and user friendly. It is basic enough for the beginner as well as insightful enough for the experienced artist to be able to still be engaged and challenged.
The video lessons are excellent! They give life and meaning to the (essential) theory and demonstrate the whys and the hows of colouring, giving tips that one would not otherwise get should they work straight from a book.
I personally noticed a dramatic change in my work within 2 attempts at the first lesson! I recommend that the student always try to remember that the more they enjoy colouring, the better their result. It is easy, upon learning a new skill or medium, to become entrenched in techniques, the how to's and rules etc, and fun goes out the window. When this begins to occur, get out your pens and have a play. I can assure you that what you have learned will come together and suddenly you are colouring like a pro!
