I’m so glad I signed up for the Kit and Clowder Hair and Skin Class! It was a big decision for me as I have limited funds due to being unable to work, so have to think very carefully before making a purchase like this. I’m so so glad I did! What an investment!
Alyce has put so much time and effort into producing this class! It includes the theory of light source (something that had previously completely eluded me), information sheets, demonstrations, videos (a video is worth a thousand words), technique sheets and practice sheets. Every step is clearly explained and demonstrated in a way that makes it very understandable. It’s broken into different lessons containing manageable chunks. I love the fact that you can complete it at your own pace – there’s no time limit or pressure to speed through the lessons.
I’ve only reached Lesson 3, but have already noticed a huge difference in my colouring. I’ve learnt the difference between cast and form shadows (that was a lightbulb moment when it finally clicked!!!), how light affects the look of objects, how to blend colours more effectively, how to create a good skin tone, how to add definition and detail to hair – and that’s just part of it! I’ve still got a long way to go, but I feel I’ve made good progress. Since starting the course I’ve had many people complimenting me on my colouring.
One thing I find amazing is the community that has built up around Kit & Clowder website and Facebook group. There are hundreds of people of all abilities taking the Hair and Skin Class and it feels like a big family. Alyce incredibly gives feedback on each and every photo submitted to the class feedback section. How on earth she does it I’ve no idea (does she ever sleep?!) but it makes such a difference having that individual feedback. She’s so approachable and easy to talk to that she feels more like a friend than a teacher. I’ve got loads more to learn, but am loving every step of it. The Clothing Class is next on my wish list.
